This session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin to build our working relationship. I will assess your strengths and areas for improvement. It is also an opportunity for you to show me what you can do, and to tell me what you would like us to achieve together.
Each lesson builds upon the last, with a clear vision for what we are trying to achieve together. Each lesson has time for technical work, learning/assessing repertoire & performance. All of these elements are important for a rounded performer, able to delivery successful performances with a strong technical underpinning.
My wide experience of school level performance, universities and music colleges and the wider music industry make me well placed to advise and guide students successfully to achieve their goals. In particular I have had significant success in preparing students for auditions for operatic roles, for concert performances, university and music college auditions and work within the choral world, including in UK Cathedral's.
My love of music has been grounded in the classical genre and whether I am singing with Sir Thomas Allen or working with a student on their ABRSM examination my love of communication through music is an essential part of my work. My study and work has given me a strong technical understanding and the ability to adapt to different styles. In particular, I am very fond of jazz and musicals in addition to a wide variety of light and popular styles.
My students have achieved an outstanding range of qualifications and further musical opportunities, either in performance or further training. I have past students who have become choral scholars at leading UK Cathedral's, a PhD Scholar at Durham University, former students at university either a under or postgraduates. This is in addition to the successes my students have had in performance, teaching of music (academically) and grade examinations.
